Ed Anderson, a partner at Kolisch Hartwell, is an intellectual property attorney active in preparing and prosecuting U.S. and international applications for patents and trademarks. He regularly counsels clients on licensing, transfers, freedom to operate, enforcement, trade secrets, and copyrights. He has extensive experience in many technical arts, with an emphasis in the electrical, electronic, and computer arts. He provides strategic planning for all stages of enterprise development. In addition to serving established companies and individual inventors, he has assisted numerous start-up companies from initial conception through various stages of venture capital funding, acquisition, and IPO.

Technical Expertise and Professional Background

Ed began his legal career with the predecessor firm of Kolisch, Hartwell & Dickinson more than 25 years ago. He helped establish the firm’s office in Palo Alto, California, placing the firm in close proximity to the explosive development of the computer and electronics industries in Silicon Valley. Ed’s extensive experience inside and outside the legal field over the years allows him to excel in his treatment of many technical fields, including telecommunications, electromagnetic interrogation, computers, computer peripherals, software, networks, video and analog signal processing, electronic devices, Internet-based commerce, medical, mechanical, and optical devices, and business methods.
