
Carla Todenhagen is an intellectual property (IP) attorney whose practice primarily involves the procurement of patent, trademark, copyright, and trade-secret rights for her clients, and the licensing and enforcement of those rights. Born and raised in Chico, California, she grew up in a bilingual household speaking both German and English.

Although her special aptitude lies in the area of bioengineering, Carla’s scientific background allows her to practice in multiple scientific fields.
Professional Background
While attending University of California at San Diego, Carla was an active member of the Society of Women Engineers, with a particular focus on encouraging elementary-age girls in their interest in engineering. She also participated in the UC/DC program, spending a semester in Washington D.C. working for the Special Committee on Bioethics and Law of the American Bar Association, as well as the American Heart Association.
Carla returned to D.C. to attend the George Washington University Law School as a Merit Scholar. At GW Law, Carla took numerous intellectual property courses, including those taught by Federal Circuit Judge Randall Rader. Carla was recognized by the faculty at GW Law as one of the top six intellectual property students in the 2006 graduating class and was awarded for her academic efforts with the ABA and BNA Award for Excellence in the Study of IP Law.
Carla began her legal career at Kolisch Hartwell as a summer associate in 2005, and continued with the firm upon graduation from law school.
